OUR PROJECTS
Giving New Life
to Unused Pearls
( NATURE PEARL )
Nature Pearl
In the past, pearls that did not meet the standards for use in jewelry were discarded. WSP calls these pearls “Nature Pearls” and values each one for its unique character. We provide these pearls to artists, who give them new life as works of art.

En
NIZO / Calligrapher
“En” is an artwork that brings together the two meanings of “en”: circle and connection. It represents the circular form of a pearl and the bonds between people. The character is written in the seal script style, which dates back to between 200 and 1000 BCE. Through the timeless beauty of calligraphy, it expresses the universal bonds between people and the enduring harmony of nature. The work was created using a special ink made with pearl powder. Pearls that could not be used for jewelry were ground into powder, and 20% of the powder was mixed into the ink, giving the color greater depth and texture.Through this unique technique, the distinctive qualities of pearls are incorporated into the character.

Series 4
Cat
Seiya Kaji / Scrap Material Artist
An art piece that fuses scrap materials with Nature Pearls. By sculpting a cat’s form from finely fragmented scrap wood and adorning it with approximately 4,000 Nature Pearls, the artist expresses supple musculature and a sense of dynamism. The result is a rare, one-of-a-kind work of art.

Series 5
White of Prayer
This kimono is made of light sumi-dyed silk, which beautifully highlights the white. It combines white gofun paste-resist dyeing and embroidery with Nature Pearls, whose natural variations add a unique beauty to the piece. The kimono has a striking presence, evoking the timeless sense of purity and prayer associated with white fabric. WSP provided approximately 25,000 Nature Pearls for this graduation project by a student in the Textile Design program at Tama Art University’s Department of Product Design.

Love Our Nature Project
Let’s Love Nature, Let’s Love Things As They Are
The beauty of nature gives us countless blessings. Passing these blessings on to future generations is both our responsibility and our mission. At the heart of our jewelry is a culture of pearl farming that exists in harmony with the ocean. In recent years, however, climate change and other environmental changes have had a significant impact on the natural habitat of Akoya oysters. Protecting the ocean where pearls are born is an essential part of our commitment to the future. This is the purpose behind our “Love Our Nature Project.” Through this project, we are taking a range of steps to reduce our environmental impact. These include finding new ways to use pearls that are not suitable for jewelry as “Nature Pearls,” creating display fixtures from recycled and discarded materials, and supporting organizations dedicated to protecting the environment. Each of these efforts is a step toward our goal of “passing beauty on to the future.” By valuing limited resources and continuing to create products in harmony with nature, we strive to build a more sustainable future. Here is a glimpse into some of our initiatives.
